As Marketing Intern, you’re responsible for assisting with the executing and developing new marketing and branding for Gateway Center of Monterey. You’ll work closely with the Executive Director of the Gateway Center, as well as the Leadership Team and Fund Development Committee to formulate new marketing for our non-profit organization.

This is a perfect opportunity for a marketing student, who is operationally savvy and is highly focused on delivering a high end and revenue-generating experience for our organization. You will gain valuable learning and working experience at a leading nonprofit organization on the Monterey Peninsula.

  • Partner with our leadership team to develop the vision and strategy for new marketing videos, new hire videos and communication.
  • Assist in the creation of branding and communication strategies, including suggestions for website development, social media accounts and email outreach campaigns, and PR/media    list and outreach plan

Direct Support Professional

Role/Responsibilities
The Direct Support Professional is under the direct supervision and guidance of the Administrator and as designated the Home Leader(s). The DSP plays the most important single role in the overall development and care of each person supported by the Gateway Center.

The DSP’s primary duty is to follow each person’s individual service plan and provide active treatment. Specifically, Direct Care staff will:

  • Serve as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team and provide direct input concerning Individual Service Plan. Participate in consultant evaluations and provide input.
  • Promote independence in all critical life skills development through the implementation of each ISP and the philosophy of the facility. Have the ability to demonstrate knowledge  of ISPs and ensure self care and assistance with self care is provided as needed.
  • Be responsible for the health and safety of the individuals the facility supports which includes the passing of medication (after successfully completing the corresponding curriculum)  and other health monitoring responsibilities as assigned by the RN.
  • Provide continuous and accurate documentation of each person’s progress, problems and activities on a daily basis.
  • Follow menus as written and approved by the dietitian for meal preparation, while involving the people supported by the facility.
  • Document house maintenance needs.
  • Complete required documentation/reports during the scheduled shift.
  • Attend at least three hours per month of in-service training.
  • Perform assigned household cleaning duties, while involving the people supported by the facility.
  • Serve as a member of the ID Team and provide direct input concerning individual ISP. Participate in consultant evaluations and provide input.
  • Perform needed physical assistance to people supported in caring for self-care and toileting needs and be familiar with adaptive equipment utilized by people supported (e.g.  wheelchairs, lifts, etc.)
  • Treat people supported and fellow staff with respect. Be knowledgeable of individual rights posted in the facility. Report any infringement of rights, abuse, neglect, mistreatment to the  Administrator immediately.
  • Attend work as scheduled.
  • Be a positive representative of our agency.
  • Mandated Reporter
  • Report to the Administrator any observation of established procedures or personnel policies.

– Other job related duties as assigned by the Administrator.

Requirements

  • Must be willing to have a Live Scan Fingerprinting and clearance through DOJ
  • Must pass a physical and TB test Covid-19 negative test
  • Covid-19 vaccine if available
  • Must have the ability to work with and develop each person’s potential; follow oral and written directions; write effectively; accept responsibilities; work and cooperate with others.
  • Applicant will be required to have at least a high school education, be a Certified Nurse Aide, or have experience working with developmentally disabled in a residential or day setting.

ADC Instructor

Compensation: $17 – $18 /HR

Role/Responsibilities

Provides specific training of Individuals served using the program curriculum including direct care, training and supervision. The ADC Instructor will acheive this by the following duties: 

  • Assist in personal care needs of the consumers (Activities of Daily Living Skills)**
  • Assists in the development and implementation of behavior management programs**
  • Ensures compliance of the Individuals served rights
  • Ensures safe environment for Individuals served
  • Embodies and demonstrates Gateway Center’s Individual-based values and philosophies
  • Complies with organizational policies and procedures
  • Provides thorough and effective communication with other staff and supervisor
  • Attends in-service training, maintains current  CPR and First Aid certification**
  • Participates in ISP meetings and staff meetings
  • Complies with Gateway Center’s safety standards and infectious disease control standards
  • Communicates thoroughly and effectively with other departments and Program Directors, Gateway Center consultants, SARC Service Coordinators, outside agencies , and the  families/care providers of the Individuals served
  • Handles Individuals served concerns in an effective and timely manner
  • Ensures Active Treatment is being implemented to the Individuals served
  • Ensures orientation of new Individuals, handles Individuals served concerns in an effective and timely manner
  • Assists in the development of Individual served goals and objectives
  • Completes daily and thorough documentation of Individuals served goals, objectives, progress notes, behavior data collection, etc.
  • Assists with planning and coordinates activities in accordance with the program schedule
  • Mandated Reporter of any suspected abuse, as defined by Department of Social Services form SOC 314A, of dependent Adults and Elders will be reported to Community Care  Licensing in addition to San Andreas Regional Center, Adult Protective Services and/or local law enforcement.
  • Ensures Person-Centered Planning is being implemented with the Individuals served in the Community ADC Program
  • Completes all other duties as assigned by the Senior ADC Program Manager

REQUIREMENTS

  • Fingerprint clearance through the Department of Justice
  • Complete and pass a TB/Covid-19 test and  health screening exam
  • Flu Shot and COVID -19 Vaccine
  • (6) months experience providing direct services to developmentally disabled persons
  • CPR/First aid current
  • Valid  California drivers license
  • Able to communicate efficiently and effectively verbally and in written form
  • Good perception to human need and knowledge of incidental medical needs management, strong skills in promotion and maintaining good relationships with consumer families and  general public
  • Understanding of organizational philosophy and consumer-based values and rights
  • Working knowledge of medications, behavior modification techniques, and an ability to train, direct, and work with others
  • Excellent Organizational Skills

Education & Experience

  • Must be 18 years old or older
  • Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent education
  • (2) years’ experience preferred

Person Centered Specialist

Compensation: $17/HR

The Person Centered Specialist supports adults with developmental disabilities in community activities.

Role/Responsibilities
● Facilitate the full inclusion of individuals with disabilities in the recreation, volunteer, and employments sites of their choosing
● Creates and uses natural supports and supports client in a person centered manner
● Teaches safety awareness to clients while they access their community
● Promotes full engagement of each client in each activity
● Recognize unusual or threatening conditions related to persons with disabilities and resolve issues if necessary
● Monitor client progress through case notes
● Complete Special Incident Reports as needed
● Completes all other assigned paperwork
● Other duties as required.
● Fluent report writing skills.
● Strong time management skills, patient, detail oriented
● Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite/Zoom meetings, zoom teachings

WORK SCHEDULE

  • ·Monday thru Friday 9:30am – 2:30pm

Requirements

SLS/ILS Support Staff

Compensation: $17/HR

The SLS/ILS Support Staff works directly with clients in their homes and in the community to provide skills, training, and resources; supports which promote independence and safety. Ensures quality assurance following; Person Centered best practices and Title 17 regulations guidelines. Position should highly value client choice and person centered services.

Role/Responsibilities

This role provides support of individuals in their home and in the community by providing supervision when applicable, training, companionship, household management, personal care, and other responsibilities determined by the consumer and/or consumer’s support circle. To achieve this the ideal candidiate will:

  • Support individuals with goals and objective success documented in IPP/ISP’s and documents progress of the individual.
  • Document Case Notes daily at each shift
  • Supports individual with  medical needs (medications, medical appointments, necessary documentation)
  • Ensures safe working environment for consumers
  • Facilitation of the development of consumer services
  • Ensures staff compliance of consumer rights
  • Complies with policies and procedures of organization
  • Facilitates circles of support as needed or requested by the consumer.
  • Assists consumers in identifying and accessing needed resources to enable them to live      successfully in their community
  • Develops and maintains liaisons with generic community resources with benefit consumers
  • Embodies and demonstrates Gateway Center’s consumer-based values and philosophies
  • Completes all other duties assigned by their supervisor or manager

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma,
  • CPR & First Aid certification;
  • Basic reading writing and math skills required.
  • Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
