How to Help Gateway Center

Gateway Center is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation, with an annual operating budget of approximately 3.5 million dollars. Our major source of income is from fees for services, which we receive from state funds. However, these sources are not adequate to fund the total cost of providing quality programs and staff. To make Gateway’s dreams a continued reality for our special people, we must make up over 15% of our total budgeted with contributions, bequests in wills, charitable trusts, grants, and fund-raising events.

Planned Giving

Helping adults with developmental disabilities achieve wellness and success will always be the primary reason that you support Gateway Center. With careful planning, you may be able to make a larger donation than you’ve imagined. And, as a Gateway Center donor, it may also provide you with unexpected tax benefits.

Planned gifts can be made through many avenues including:

• A Simple Bequest in Your Will
• A Charitable Remainder Trust (CRT)
• A Special Needs Trust (if appropriate) to provide some types of resources for a family member with a disability
• Donation of Appreciated Properties (such as Stock or Real Estate)
• Naming Gateway Center as the beneficiary of your Life Insurance policy
• Retirement Accounts

Memory Tiles

Celebrate your role in Gateway Center’s future by sponsoring one or more “Memory Tiles.” Each tile is an original one-of-a-kind hand painted ceramic tile by local artist,
Mary Lou Cortright. The theme is a seascape of the Monterey Bay. The color palate will be similar to the colors selected for our new ICF (Intermediate Care Facility) wing,
and for future construction and renovation planned at Gateway.

The tiles will be a permanent tribute to a loved one, favorite staff member, volunteer, or Board Member (past/present). They will be displayed as beautiful pieces of original artwork on the interior walls of Gateway Center (850 Congress Avenue, Pacific Grove). Proceeds from Memory Tiles will support our new “Capital Campaign,” with a goal of raising $500,000 over the next two years. Your tax deductible suggested minimum donation will symbolize your enduring support of Gateway Center for many decades and generations to come!

Three options are available to choose from:

• $100 Gift - One 6x6 hand painted ceramic tile with one line of text (maximum of 20 characters). Example: The Cook Family
• $500 Gift - Two 6x6 hand painted ceramic tiles with up to two lines of text (maximum of 20 characters per line) with special mounting available.
  Example: In Honor of Paul Landman
• $1000 Gift - Four 6x6 hand painted ceramic tiles with up to three lines of text (maximum of 20 characters per line) with special mounting available.
  Example: In Memory of John F. Wecker, 1921-2002
