Providing Adults with Developmental Disabilities the Best Environment to Live and Work.

  • 850 Congress Avenue. Pacific Grove, CA 93950

Help us expand our young adult program, Without Walls into Salinas, CA. Join us on The Path!

For $40 a month, you can support an existing young adult Without Walls resident at Gateway Center and help us expand our programming to new communities in California.

Life gets better when we’re together on The Path.

The Path is a family of action-takers, like you. You know, just like we do, the importance of allowing all people, including adults with developmental disabilities, to lead a fulfilling, independent life.

When you walk The Path with us, you’re helping us support our community of Gateway Center residents in building self-sufficient skills so they can experience their best life, just as you do!

Take a step back with us to 1954.

That’s when Gateway Center first began. At the time, Gateway Center started as a group of concerned parents who wanted a place for their special needs children to grow and thrive.

As those kids grew, it became increasingly clear that new services were needed – specifically for developmentally disabled adults. And in 1975, Gateway Center became the beacon of light for 46 developmentally disabled adults.

For close to 60 years, Gateway Center has created a legacy of helping adults with developmental disabilities live a life they’re proud of. But, we never said it wasn’t a journey.

And it’s one that we need your help in taking!

The Path is a community that loves to see care and compassion in action!

Your monthly gift goes directly to our Without Walls (WOW) Program. It’s a specific program designed to meet the needs of adults transitioning out of the classroom setting and integrating them into the community. That looks like:

Helping Residents Develop Essential Social Skills

Through continued education and extracurricular classes, we’re helping our residents develop social skills that are necessary for an empowered, fulfilling life!

Integrating Our Residents Into the Community

Whether it’s through pre-vocational experiences or taking field trips to exciting places, we’re helping residents become active members of society.

Aiding Our Residents in Becoming Self Sufficient

Learning skills that are crucial for independence and self-sufficiency are key to living our best lives. And we’re committed to helping our residents develop those day in and day out!

Let us introduce you to the family members of our current residents at Gateway Center:

“My daughter attends the WOW program.

She looks forward to school now. It is not just a positive social venue… It’s the programming and the team that conducts these sessions that make this work.

These are not average folks. They operate at a higher emotional and intentional level.

I want to express my profound thanks to Gateway Center and everyone involved [in the WOW program]!”
