Welcoming Assemblymember Dawn Addis to Gateway Center

A Special Visit to Pacific Grove

Advocacy and community connection are vital to the work we do. On March 19th, we were honored to welcome Assemblymember Dawn Addis to Gateway Center’s Pacific Grove location.

Touring Our Programs

During her time on campus, Assemblymember Addis was welcomed by our Executive Director, Mike González. She toured our Intermediate Care Facilities (ICF) homes and Day Programs and met with our leadership team, who are dedicated to serving individuals across Pacific Grove, Marina, Salinas, and in-home settings.

Advocating for the Community

Having leaders visit our facilities allows us to have crucial conversations about the realities of our work. While showcasing our programs, we also discussed key challenges facing our community—including workforce needs, aging infrastructure, and funding gaps.

A Shared Vision of Support

It is incredibly meaningful to connect with representatives who truly understand our mission. As a former special education teacher and strong advocate, Assemblymember Addis brought insight and genuine engagement throughout the visit. We are grateful for her time and look forward to continuing our work to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
